Ajmer, September 27th, 2015: Today was a Sunday of new beginingings for heart health of Ajmerites. On the occasion of World Heart Day, over one thousand residents of Ajmer from all walks of life enthusiastically participated in ‘Run for Heart’ Marathon organized by Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur. The 2 km marathon was organized for raising awareness on heart health in association with Indian Medical Association, Ajmer, Private Medical Practitioners Society, Ajmer and Lions Club Umang.
Taking forward this year’s World Heart Day theme of creating ‘Heart Health environment’ through physical activity, Fortis came forward with this initiative to make the residents od ‘Smart City also smart through health living. From school kids to the elderly members of society even over 75 year, all came together on the bright Sunday morning with a determination to take control of their health.
As they collected at Dudiyyo Kuwaan, Bajranggarh Gate to begin the ‘run for heart’ marathon they were greeted by the masters of the ‘Matters of Heart’. As Mr. Roopesh Mathur, Head-Sales & Marketing, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur pumped up their spirits Dr. Rakesh Chittora, Director & Unit Head, Cardiac Surgery, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur shared few easy tips that one can adopt for a longer and better quality of heart health. Dr. Sanjeev Sharma Director & Unit Head, Cardiac Surgery, Fortis Escorts Hospital, also addressed the gathering before the commencement of the marathon where he highlighted the importance of walk and light exercise in our otherwise stressful life.
The flag-off of ‘Ajmer Run for Heart’ was done at 6.30 by Mr. Prateem Tamboli, Facility Director, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur along with Mr. Roopesh Mathur, Dr. Rakesh Chittora, Dr. Sameer Sharma and Dr. Alok Sharma, Sr. Consultant, Valve Repair and Replacement, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur. The 30 minutes run commenced at Hotel Mansingh Palace where Mr. Dharmendra Gehlot, Mayor, Ajmer gave away certificates to participants and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of Ajmer in this activity. Dr. Rajkumar Jaipal, President, Indian Medical Association, Ajmer; Dr. Pankaj Toshniwal, Secretary, Private Medical Practitioners Society, Ajmer and Lion Rajendra Gandhi, Charter President, Lion Club Ajmer Umang were also present on the occasion.
Elaborating on the purpose of this large scale event, Mr. Prateem Tamboli, Facility Director, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur said, “It is important to note that the only way to safeguard yourself from this lifethreatning condition is prevention through awareness.
