“BSF GOLDEN JUBILEE – INDIAN WOMEN CAMEL SAFARI – 2015”

1.         The Indian women camel Safari was flagged off from Bhuj (Gujarat) by Sh M K Singla, IPS, Spl DG BSF (Western command)  on 24/02/2015 in the  presence  of Sh Santosh Mehra, IPS, IG BSF Guj Ftr and other officers, SOs, ORs  and their  families.

2.         This women camel safari comprises of BSF and Tata foundation women. Dr. Sujata Shinde AC/VO BSF leader of the safari along with 12 BSF women in association with Padma Shri Ms. Bachendri Pal along with 13 Tata foundation members are participating in the safari. This safari after covering a distance of approximately 900  kms in the area  of  Gujarat entered into Rajasthan on 02^nd Mar’ 2015 at Border Outpost BKD.

3.         On 2^nd Mar 2015 at 1700 hrs this camel safari was welcomed by Shri Pratul Gautam DIG BSF Sector Barmer along with Sh Ramesh Kumar Commandant BSF, other BSF Officers, and SOs at Border outpost BKD in the presence of huge a gathering of civilians and BSF personnel. On this occasion Sh Pratul Gautam DIG BSF said that this women camel safari will now be passing through the bordering villages of Rajasthan (approximately 1100 kms) & Punjab (approximately 300 kms) and come to an end on 22^nd Mar 2015 at Retreat Parade  Attari (Amritsar, Punjab) on Indo-Pak Border.

4.         The locals received camel safari whole heartedly and applauded the efforts of BSF and further provided them encouragement for the women empowerment in the society. Ms Bachendri Pal & Dr. Sujata Shinde, AC/VO BSF  also interacted with the locals population present & media persons. The following cultural programme were organized at BKD :

(a)      Dance traditional & songs by civilians

(b)      Dance & Songs by BSF troops.

(c)       Songs by police band.
