Jaipur, December 5, Kalavritt, an art organisation working for the development of traditional miniature art of Rajasthan and all the states in the country, today announced the winners of the best artworks made in the National Contemporary Miniature Art Workshop. The winners are Yukti Sharma of Bundi (Rajasthan), Kanu Patel of Gujarat, Suman Joshi of Banswara (Rajasthan), Tabassum Khan of Bhopal and Kishore Narkhadiwala of Gujarat.
Kalavritt Chairman Sandeep Sumahendra said that 140 participants took part in this eight-day National Contemporary Miniature Art workshop and winners were felicitated with appreciation letter, certificate and memento and e-certificate to all participants.
He said that the awards which are named after Rajasthan’s world famous artists were awarded to winners. Padamshri Ramgopal Vijayvargiya Samman was awarded to Yukti Sharma, while Padmashri Kripal Singh Shekhawat Samman was given to Kanu Patel, Kalaratan P. N. Choyal Samman was given to Tabassum Khan, Kalaguru Prof. Devkinandan Sharma Samman to Suman Joshi and Kalaguru Vedpal Sharma “Bannu Ji” Samman to Kishore Narkhadiwala.
Kalavritt Chairman and Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi secretary extended greetings to all winners wished them a bright future.
It is to be mentioned that Rajasthan’s ancient miniature art is on the verge of extinction. To conserve this art, Kalavritt along with Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi organized an online ‘National Contemporary Miniature Art workshop’ from November 2 to 9. This workshop was organized in memory of Rajasthan’s famous painter, Founder of Kalavritt, former principal of Rajasthan School of Arts and Secretary Lalit Kala Akademi Kalaguru Dr Sumahendra on his 77th birth anniversary. Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi secretary called this workshop organised on the birth anniversary of Kalaguru Dr Sumahendra as a ‘Sanjeevni’ for infusing life to uplift traditional miniature art of Rajasthan.
Sandeep Sumahendra said, “When I was thinking about this workshop, it was difficult to even call 15 artists from Jaipur, but this event turned out so big and it was possible with the blessings of my father and his very close friends.” He expressed his gratitude to Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi secretary Shri Rajneesh Harsh, Shri Vinay Sharma and Shri Dilip Dave along with to Dr Shail Choyal, Shri Bhawani Shankar Sharma, Shri RB Gautam, Shri Akhilesh Nigam and Shri Prem Singh for their commendable cooperation.
