Amyra Dastur looks forward to a promising year!

Known for taking the road less travelled, Amyra Dastur has always opted for challenging subjects and interesting characters right from her debut film – “Issaq” to her latest multi-starrer – “Prassthanam”.

Sure-footed and on the rise, Amyra has seamlessly balanced both commercial mainstream cinema, content-driven films and continues to shuffle between and South Films. She is happy to have been a part of three great projects this year; A Netflix original, “Rajma Chawal”, Balaji’s “Judgemental Hai Kya” and “Prassthanam”, all of which helped showcase her versatility as an actor.

She informs, “Every project has been unique and different in terms of characters, story lines and genre. 2019 has been a good year and god has been really kind! Judgemental Hai Kya was an experience in itself. I got to work with my idol – Kangana Renaut and it was also a physically strenuous experiencing as I had to work on my prosthetic makeup for six to seven hours for a couple of scenes. I really enjoyed it and it’s one of my favourite releases this year. Prassthanam on the other hand was by far my favourite in terms of promotional activities since I got to hang out with Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff as they shared their stories from back in the day.”
“I never repeat my characters because of the fear of getting typecast,” says Amyra, adding “Rajma Chawal broke the stereotype for me because I had mostly played pretty, girl-next-door kind of roles previously. Besides my look in the series, the character was equally challenging to play. In Prassthanam, I played a sweet NRI girl and in Judgemental, the focus was on the chemistry between me and Rajkummar Rao as a young, happily married couple, so it was the first time I ever depended on my co-stars performance in order to propel my own.

Considering her impressive line-up, Amyra is eagerly awaiting to start shooting for her next big series for an OTT platform, as well as her various brand commitments.
