Resolution from AIKSCC on arrests at protest of Tamil Nadu farmers

AIKSCC strongly condemns the arrest of Tamil Nadu farmers who have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for the past one month. At a time when Tamil Nadu is reeling from drought for the second successive year and more than 400 farmers have committed suicide, the Central government and State government have not kept the promises made to the farmers in April after their protest of 42 days under the leadership of Shri Ayyakkanu.

We demand that instead of arresting the protesting farmers, the Prime Minister should immediately meet with them, discuss their demands and resolve the urgent issues. The farmers all over the country who are agitating for remunerative prices and freedom from debt will not be cowed down by arrests and intimidation – the protests will only intensify until the demands are met.
