With running activities already conducted in Australia and Japan, the initiative plans a mega international event in Sydney in 2027, targeting 5,000 participants
New Delhi, 29 October 2026: Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, founder of Akshar Yoga Kendraa, has launched Himalaya Runners, an international running and wellness initiative aimed at encouraging healthier lifestyles, physical endurance and community participation. Built around the philosophy of ‘Run • Grow • Beyond’, the initiative has established a presence across eight countries, including India, Australia, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, South Korea and the Philippines.
Himalaya Runners seeks to make running accessible to people across age groups and fitness backgrounds, from beginners taking their first steps towards an active lifestyle to experienced runners pursuing longer distances. The initiative encourages participants to start with achievable goals, even as little as 500 metres, and progressively build their stamina towards 5 km, 10 km and longer-distance running events. By bringing together individuals from different countries and cultures, it aims to develop a global community centred on fitness, endurance and healthy living.
The initiative has already conducted its Keep Moving Challenge in Australia and Japan, bringing together participants through community running and fitness activities. Building on these events, Himalaya Runners is planning its next challenge for December 2026, with a longer-term vision of organising regular running activities across participating countries.
A key highlight of its expansion roadmap is the Himalaya Runners Mega International Event, planned for Sydney, Australia, in 2027. Envisioned as a major international gathering of runners, yoga practitioners and fitness enthusiasts, the event aims to attract 5,000 participants from around the world. The initiative also plans to strengthen its international chapters, encourage participation in organised races and explore partnerships to expand community-based running activities.
Speaking about the initiative, Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar said, “Good health is one of the greatest strengths we can develop. Through Himalaya Runners, we want to inspire people to make running a part of their everyday lives, regardless of where they begin. Someone starting with just 500 metres can gradually build the endurance to run 5 or 10 kilometres, or even a marathon. Our vision is to bring people from different countries together through fitness, discipline and a shared commitment to healthier living.”
Himalaya Runners combines running with the principles of Himalayan Yoga and holistic well-being. While yoga, pranayama and meditation support physical and mental wellness, running builds stamina, endurance and strength, helping practitioners prepare for physically demanding experiences, including Himalayan journeys.
Beyond fitness, Himalaya Runners promotes outdoor experiences, social connections and healthier lifestyles through community runs and sporting events. With its growing international network, the initiative aims to make running an integral part of everyday life while fostering a global community united by health and well-being.
