Icon of Depressed Persons—Dr Ambedkar

The Thoughts and Legacy of Baba Sahib Ambedkar

Babashaib wrote several books out of which “Annihilation of Cast” is worth reading, in this book dr Ambedakar has expressed his views on Hinduism and Hindu Nation, On Muslim and Christian missionaries, On the Tolerance of Hindus, On Vedic religion and On Eating beef etc. Nation will calibrate 127th birth anniversary on 14th April,2018.

Recently Dr Ambedkar is perhaps India’s leading post-modern icon. Every political party especially ruling party at the center and in most of the states seems to have large interest in trying to appropriate Babashaib-it need to fill it sparsely populated shelf of national heroes , push its Hindu unity project that include Dalit and depressed class of society. Let us view the thoughts of him. It seems tht Dr Ambedkr’s thoughts re not in line with RSS and few politicl parties..

Baba Shaib”s Views On the tolerance of Hindus—-
It is being said that Hindus are very tolerant person; however in my opinion this is not true but only misconception. In my view Hindus on many occasions can be intolerant and if on some occasion they are tolerant this is due the fact that they are too weak to oppose or may be too indifferent to opposed Ambedkar further says that this indifference of the Hindus has become a part of their nature that Hindus will quite meekly and silently tolerate an insult as well as a wrong —with the Hindus GODS all forbearing, It is not very difficult to imagine the pitiable condition of the wronged and the oppressed among the Hindus. (This quotes is from Dr Ambedakar’s book “Annihilation of Casts”)

On Vedic religion—
In Dr Ambedkar’s view “Religon must mainly a matter of Principles only, Religion cannot be a matter of Rules. The moment it degenerate into rules it ceases to be the religion…What is this Hindu religion? Is it set of certain principles or is it a code of rules ? …Hindu religion as it contained in the Vedaas and the Smmritis, is nothing but a multitude of sacrificial, social, political and sanitary rules and regulations all mixed up” what is called religions by the Hindus is nothing but a multitude of Commands and prohibition.

On Hindus, Hindu Nation——.
“Among Hindus each cast is very much conscious of its existence. Castes do not even form federation. A cast hs no feeling that it is affiliated to other castes except when there is Hindu-Muslim riot. There is no Hindu conscious of any kind. In every hindu the consciousness that exists is the consciousness of his cst. Truly Hindus society is a myth. Hindu society as such does not exist. That is the reason why the hindus cannot be said to form a society or Nation.” This quotes is from Dr Ambedakar’s book “Annihilation of Casts”)

Dr Ambedkar’s view on Muslim, Christian missionaries

डा. जे.के.गर्ग
“Supposing a Hindu wished to do what the Christian missionaries is doing for these aborigines (tribals), could he have done it?. I submit not. Civilizing the aborigines means adopting them as your own, living in their midst, nd cultivating fellow- feeling, in short loving them. How is it possible for a Hindu to do this? His whole life is one anxious effort to preserve his cst. The Hindus criticize the Mohammedans for having spred the religion by the use of the sword. They also ridicule Christianity on the score of the inquisition. But really speaking who is the better and more worthy of our respect- the Mohammedans and Christins who attempted to trust down the throats of unwilling persons that they regarded s necessary for their salvation or Hindu who would not spred the light, who would endeavour to keep others in darkness… I have no hesitation in saying that if the Mohammedans has been cruel, the Hindus hs been men, and meanness is worse than cruelty.

Babashaib’s view on eating beef
“That the Aryns of the Rig Veda did kill cows for purpose of food and ate beef is abundantly clear from the Rig Veda itself. In Rig Veda (X.86.14) Indra says: “ They cook for one 15 plus twenty oxen.(on beef is from “The Untouchables;”—Written by Dr Ambedakar, all other quotes fro Dr Ambedakar’s book “Annihilation of Casts”)
