Optimism and enthusiasm enhance such happiness manifold, while smiling even during misery mitigates difficulties in life, says a new book on “Art of Happiness”.  The book has been authored by famous writer and management expert of Jaipur, Prof. Ramesh K. Arora, who has presented different dimensions of happiness in his work. The book was released in the ongoing National Book Fair at Ambedkar Circle here earlier this week. Mr. Justice V.S. Dave, former Judge of Rajasthan High Court, releasing the book observed that a grumpy face or complaining attitudes in life erode happiness. Mr. D.R. Mehta, former SEBI Chairman and presently Chief Patron of Bhagwan Mahaveer Vikalang Sahayata Samiti, the eminent organization for manufacturing and distributing artificial limbs to the orthopaedically handicapped, suggested that every society should try to develop its happiness index and enhance per capita happiness.

Dr. Dev Swaroop, Vice-Chancellor, University of Rajasthan, emphasized the value of evolving a positive attitude towards work and family. Mr. Anil Agarwal, Governor of Rotary District 3052 spoke on the value of selfless service as an instrument of happiness. Ms. Anju Sharma, Head of the Department of History, Subodh Girls College, warned against the people’s tendency to invite unhappiness through a discontented disposition to life’s blessings.

Prof. Arora highlighted the value of viewing happiness as a right as well as a duty. Both the giver of happiness and the receiver of happiness get blessed, he said and pointed out that the age-old adages, such as “Happiness is wiser than wisdom”, “Laughter is the best medicine” and “Happiness increases through its distribution” had proved their utility over time.

The 140-page book has been divided into chapters dealing with per capital happiness, happiness as a right as well as a gift of God, role of prayers in multiplying inner peace, contentment with things and not with one’s growth, happiness leading to success and vice versa and a bouquet of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, familial, social and professional sources of happiness.

Prof. Arora has authored and edited over 50 books. His books on winning personality, fine art of human behavior and time management for happiness and success were widely appreciated. He was earlier Head of Department and Dean in Rajasthan University and is at present Chairman of the Management Development Academy, Jaipur.
