Max Healthcare showcases challenging yet inspiring cases of cancer survivors

Meerut, 14th August 2018: Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali, a leading healthcare provider in western U.P, showcased several interesting and awe-inspiring cases of Gynae cancer survivors from the region today.
Max Hospital has been conducting regular OPDs in Meerut for over two years, as part of their out-reach program and making a marked difference in cancer treatment.
Dr Kanika Gupta (Principal Consultant- Gynae Oncology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali), addressed the gathering and shed light on the growing incidence of Gynae cancer amongst women in tier 2 and 3 cities.
She has experience of more than a decade in performing gynaecological surgeries. by vaginal, laparoscopic and the traditional open methods for various gynecological conditions.
Dr. Kanika Gupta has been leading OPDs in the region and has successfully treated on several critical gynae cancer patients here.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kanika (Principal Consultant- Gynae Oncology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali) said, “ Due to the lack of cancer awareness and dearth of proper screening facilities in tier 2 and 3 cities, most women report at advanced stages, adversely affecting the treatment and care.
Over the last decade Gynaecological Cancer cases have shown a rapid increase. This is both owing to better diagnosis and actual rise in incidents. However, it is a curable disease, provided it gets diagnosed at an early stage. Treatment in advanced stages in patients can involve multiple modalities of treatment and chances of reduced post-treatment life expectancy. We have been treating several challenging and complex cases of cancer from this, which validates their growing trust in our services and care.”
Present at the press conference was Mrs. Vinesh Devi, a 42-year-old female presented with abnormal bleeding from her vagina. Her ultrasound results showed that her cervix was bulky and was asked to get a biopsy done. The test biopsy results showed Carcinoma (cancer of cervix). After consultation with the family and the patient she had to undergo an operation and has been successfully treated and is now leading a normal life with regular check-ups.
Dr Gupta elaborated that women in the Indian set, are mostly ignorant about their health and not open about Gynae problems. It is important to recognize the symptoms and speak about them at the right time to ensure cancer doesn’t spread and is treated in time.
She emphasised that post-operative regular follow ups are an important part of patient care and must not be neglected.
Another case was of Mrs. Santosh, a 62-year-old woman and a diabetic patient with hypertension. She had persistent bleeding even after her menopause. Her ultrasound results showed that the wall of the uterus was thickened, and her biopsy results concluded carcinoma (cancer of uterus). She had to undergo an operation and has been successfully treated and is now leading a normal life with regular check-ups.
